In the summer of 2008, history will be made with the great unveiling of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Museum. On June 1, 2006, Harley Davidson officially began construction of the Museum with a groundbreaking ceremony meant for motorcycle enthusiasts. Instead of using a shovel to break ground, Harley Davidson hired dirt track rider Scott Parker to perform a burnout on a Harley Davidson CL 883R Sportster motorcycle at the groundbreaking site.

The Museum will be approximately 130,000 square feet and will be located on a 20 acre tract of land on Sixth and Canal Street in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Harley Davidson has designed the Museum to work in concert with the Milwaukee city design but captures the essence of the Menomonee River.

The Museum will be a tribute and celebration of the rich Harley Davidson Company history and the impact the Company has made on motorcycling and the motorcycle lifestyle. Harley Davidson has coined the term, “Living the Legend” and visiting the Museum is part of living that legend and the Harley Davidson experience.

Riders and non-riders can plan meetings and conferences at the Museum’s special events facilities and exhibit hall. If you get hungry, they have a café and restaurant available. Of course, no Harley Davidson event or venue is complete without a retail shop where you can purchase Harley mementos.

Consequently, Harley Davidson’s 105th anniversary is being held in Milwaukee on August 28th through the 31st, 2008. Many of the events will be centered around the Museum complex, so there are an overwhelming number of visitors anticipated to visit the Museum. As part of the sign up package for the anniversary event, Harley Davidson is holding drawings of all respondents that have purchased a ticket package by November 30th, 2007 for the event for the award of 6,250 tickets for guaranteed entrance into the Museum. You can enter the drawing without a purchase by visiting the Harley Davidson website and reading the official rules and regulations.
