Hello, and welcome back! The weather here is crisp and chilly, an absolutely gorgeous fall day. Good for reading, or one of the dozens of things on a holiday preparations list. I've done some of both today; I'm working on a December romance at the moment, but today, I have the last of the November books to share with you all.

New author Melissa Mayhue is back with her second paranormal romance, Highland Guardian (Pocket). This time, romance author Sarah Douglas has left her home in Denver to travel to Scotland, hoping to overcome her writer's block. When she arrives, however, she has several shocks, including seeing a man leap over her sliding car (she thinks), and that the man she expected to be hosting her isn't there, but a much younger, very gorgeous man is in his place. Ian McCullough wasn't happy to learn the cottage on his family property had been rented out, but Sarah isn't what he'd expected, and, with her unusual ability to sense people's feelings by touching them, perhaps just what he needs. Even if he can't have her for his own, he certainly needs to protect her from those who would use her to access the Portal to the land of the Faeries. Except that with his duties as Guardian, he can't afford to become too involved with her. He just can't seem to help himself, however. Ian is a wonderful hero, strong and protective, even when Sarah doesn't realize she's in need of protecting. And Sarah is fun, smart and strong in her own way, using her special ability to judge who is worthy of her trust. Their romance is very appealing. And, even better, this appears to have all sorts of sequel possibilities, with Sarah and other Fae descendants out in the world honing abilities mere mortals simply don't have. I'm looking forward to seeing more related stories. This one has earned four of Cupid's five arrows.
