Being Good To Yourself

How often do you make time to pamper yourself? Do you usually set aside a special day or an hour for taking good care of yourself? We all need some quiet time just to sit back relax and rejuvenate body, mind and spirit. Here are some inexpensive and empowering suggestions for being good to yourself.

~ Read or listen to a good book.
Sometimes, just a few minutes of “escaping” into a good book can work wonders to rejuvenate a weary mind. Put your feet up and get into a good book – think of it as a mini-vacation.

~ Give yourself a manicure or pedicure.
Making the time to care for yourself does wonders for your self-esteem. A little pampering and primping can do great things for the your mood too. Bright beautiful nail polish can put a smile your face and a little pep in your step.

~ Have tea and fun with friends.
Enjoying tea and scones, a little conversation, a lot of laughter --- who doesn’t like a few hours of fun time with friends? Make a date with favorite friends to brew some tea and talk about the beauty of life, love and having a good time.

~ Treat yourself with love and kindness.
Treating yourself with respect, love and kindness, is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself and a great way to ensure healthy self-esteem. How you’re treating yourself, is how others will treat you.

~ Soak in a bubble bath and visualize an empowered future.
Fill the tub with the scent of relaxing lavender. Lay back, close your eyes and picture your ideal future. Picture the future, as you would ideally like it to be. Ask yourself, “How many ways can I make this ideal future a reality?” Listen to your intuition and act on the suggestions.

~ Go for a walk and appreciate nature.
Literally take time to smell the roses. Observe and appreciate the beauty of nature – the blue of the sky, the song of the birds, the smell of newly mowed grass or the sound of a peaceful fountain. In the city or country it doesn’t matter, beauty is in the eye of beholder.

~ Spend uninterrupted time listening to your favorite music.
Put on the headphones and enjoy a relaxing half hour with your favorite music. Music really does soothe the soul. Close your eyes, hum along and enjoy the power of music.

~ Sit in your favorite chair and clear your mind.
For ten or fifteen minutes just sit quietly and clear your mind. Sink into your favorite chair and clear away the clutter. Just be.

~ Write that novel you’ve been meaning to write.
Is there a story inside you just waiting to be told? As soon as you make the emotional commitment to sharing your story, you’ll find the time to write and create. Clear a space in the house just for your writing and begin putting words on paper. It’s relaxing, fun and invigorating all rolled into one.

~ Make a list of all your talents and how you’re going to use them to live the life of your dreams.
When you have dreams, you have a purpose for getting up each morning. Begin a list of all the wonderful things you’d like to accomplish in your lifetime. Dreams foster optimism, hope and desire. Commit yourself to your greatness. The future is brighter with a dream!

Being good to yourself is about making the time to treat yourself with respect, dignity and kindness. After all, you deserve it!
