I just attended the 2008 MidAtlantic Motorcycle Show in Timonium, Maryland just outside of Baltimore, Maryland and was extremely impressed. I got there at opening on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., February 9th and it was already crowded. By 2:00 p.m., the aisles were bursting to capacity. The MidAtlantic Motorcycle Show is held at the Timonium Fairgrounds in a large building, in fact, larger than the Washington, D.C. International Motorcycle Show, but it was more crowded and so much more fun. They were expecting upwards to 30,000 people in attendance during the three day event.
The motorcycle show had motorcycles, motorcycles, and more motorcycles displayed. There was a custom and antique motorcycle show contest, motorcycle celebrities, and all the right vendors with the right prices. I always wondered whether the motorcycle celebrities are all makeup or if they really are as attractive as they are on television. I found out when I met Michele Smith from the “American Thunder” TV show and she is more beautiful in person than on TV and so very nice which just adds to the beauty.
Michele is an entrepreneur and has her own website that I have listed below where you can order women’s t-shirts that have arms with tattoo sleeves (very cool). The products are called, “No Needles Tattoos” and it really looks like your arms are completely tattooed. Imagine the look on your friends faces when they think you have tattooed every space on your body. It really works because I have tried it and the looks you get are priceless. Who says no pain, no gain. She also has two tattoo designs in thongs you can purchase if you ever wondered what a tattoo on the lower back or upper derriere would look like. If you prefer a jeweled g-string, she designs those as well. I have just ordered one of the tattoo thongs and want to see if the reaction is as strong as the t-shirt.
There was an array of vendors to choose from, all at very reasonable prices. Gerbing’s representative in the eastern part of the United States is Michael G. Vlahos, and he had an impressive array of heated gear with some special deals. I wrote a heated gear article and I just can’t say it enough, heated gear makes the cold go away. You can practically ride all year round if you have the right gear, and Gerbings products definitely have the edge on great heated gear. You can check out the heated gear link for his website at the bottom of the page.
There was also some excellent “one of a kind” jewelry vendors there that I just had to buy from. One vendor sold handmade sterling and brass gemstone jewelry, Cornucopia and the other sold handmade Native American jewelry, Native Feather. Both vendors carry quality, unique, jewelry that compliments any wardrobe but especially biker clientele. Both of these unique jewelry links can be found below on my Biker Cosmetics and Jewelry link.
I also purchased the “Super Chamois” cloths that a very persuasive vendor was demonstrating. If it does all that he demonstrated and lasts, I got a great deal. Since I am working on an article on detailing your bike, I thought these would come in handy. I will let you know if it works or if it scratches the hell out of my bike.
This event is held every year in February and even provides coupons on their website for $5.00 off the price of admission, making it a mere $10 for a day’s entertainment. I have a link to their site in my Motorcycle Shows category link.
I would love to hear about other great events that are worth our riders money and time. Please send me a note about upcoming events so that I can check them out.
Until next week, ride safe.
