UEFA Champions League - Quarter Finals The UEFA European Champions League has presented some very exciting Quarter Finals, with the added twist of an unprecedented Four teams from the same country reaching the last eight. Italy, Germany, Turkey and Spain have one side each in the Quarter Finals. The English Premier League's big four have all got through and the way the draw has panned out means that at least one English team will definitely get to the Semi – Finals, with two of them being drawn against each other. It is debatable whether the current strength of the Premier League is good for the European Competitions or not, but these things tend to go in cycles. Just a few years ago the Spanish League teams dominated the Champions League, as have the Italian teams also in the past. An English team has reached the final for the last 3 years. AC Milan of Italy reached the final 2 of the last 3 years, but last years European Champions were knocked out by Arsenal in the previous round. In the Quarter Finals now, Manchester United play against Roma, a team they also played last season, with the English club gaining the victory. At the time of writing the first leg has been played and United lead 2-0. They are certainly the favourites now to go through to the semi – finals, but you never know with Roma, with players like Totti anything is possible. Germany's FC Shalke play against Catalonian giants Barcelona. At the time of writing Barcelona lead having won the first leg one 1-0. Liverpool will play Arsenal tonight in what commentators are calling “THE TRILOGY” They will play each other 3 times back to back in just over a week, with a EPL game in between. Chelsea Play Fenerbahce. If Chelsea win it will guarantee that an English team will be in the final, as they will play the winner of the Arsenal v Liverpool tie in the Semi Finals. Fenerbahce are the first Turkish team to reach the last eight and will have other ideas. Quarter Finals Draw: All games to be played over 2 legs.
