2007 NFL Season Kicks Off - Colts Dominate Saints
Guest Author - Kori Ellis

The 2007 NFL season opened on Thursday night with the 2006 Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts facing off against the New Orleans Saints.

In a game that was hyped with multiple commercials featuring Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Saints running back Reggie Bush, the much anticipated contest was really no contest.

By the end of the night, the Colts proved themselves to still be dominant, crushing the Saints 41-10.

Manning threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns - two to Reggie Wayne and one to Marvin Harrison. On the ground, second year player Joseph Addai finished the night with 23 rushes for 118 yards and a touchdown.

On the defensive end, the Colts intercepted Saints' quarterback Drew Brees twice and held Bush and Deuce McAllister to only 38 yards rushing a piece.

Fantasy football owners with Indianapolis players, Manning, Wayne and Addai went to bed happy on Thursday night, while Bush and McAllister owners are probably a little frustrated.

With wide receiver Joe Horn no longer in New Orleans and receivers Marques Colston and Devery Henderson covered well, tight end Eric Johnson was Brees' favorite target on Thursday. Johnson, who spent the last six seasons in San Francisco, tallied eight catches for 57 yards.

The Saints will look to regroup next week as they take on the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.

This week, there are 13 games on tap for Sunday and two more on Monday night.
