Day of Reckoning 2

This article is a review of one of my favorite wrestling games for what is now becoming an antiquated game system, The Nintendo Gamecube. The game is the Day of Reckoning 2. If you are unfamiliar with this game, let me tell you a little bit about it. Obviously it is a sequel to Day of Reckoning but I own them both and like the second one a little bit better. I like it better than the first one because the story line is better and longer.

The premise is that the World Title has been stolen from Eric Bischoff’s office after it was held up in a match between Triple H and Chris Jericho. It was one of those matches where Jericho was being pinned as Triple H was tapping out. There was no clear winner so the title has been held up until Wrestlemania. The created character finds that he is the one being blamed for stealing the title, you have to go and wrestle in different matches to become the number one contender but you also have to defend yourself from being a thief. All this and trying to prove your innocence to your girlfriend, Stacy Keibler. That’s right; every man’s fantasy comes true in this game by Stacy Keibler being your girlfriend.
I do not want to give the end of the game away but there are three people involved with stealing the title. You may or may not be surprised who the three are.

There is a couple of things that I do not like about the game and that is the only time, in exhibition mode, that you can really win a title is in a ladder match. Sure you can wrestle any match and say that it is for the title, but the only time that you are actually seen with the belt is when you win a ladder match. There is no way to create a championship belt for your wrestler and I haven’t seen one of those since Wrestlemania 2000 on the N64 system. I also don’t like the fact that it takes awhile to figure out how to create costumes on the created wrestlers. You have to figure out which base clothes go with the clothes you want.

What I liked about it is that there is no limit to experience points to wrestle in the story mode. You build your experience points by going through the story mode and once you finish, all of your experience points will not be filled. You can go through again to get the rest of the experience points. Another plus is that Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit are in this game, so if you miss them, you can enjoy them once again.

It is a fun game and there will be aspects that people don’t like and aspects that people will like.

I like it very much and I give it four out of five super kicks.
