Educations Web Sites for Kids

FreeRice.com
Improve your vocabulary while helping the hungry. Freerice.com donates 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program for each right answer. Twenty grains may not seem like a lot, but it adds up fast. In fact, it has added up to over 38 billion grains so far. I love this site, it's fun, educational and raises money for charity. It's also addictive. Once you start, you want to keep moving on to the next level.

Brainpop.com
When I was young and in school, the best days were the days when the teacher would drag out the projector and we would get to watch a movie. Brain Pop offers an entertaining way for kids to explore a wide array of subjects. Pick a subject, watch a movie and take a quiz.

Funology.com
Learning doesn't have to be boring, it can and should be fun. Funology.com offers a number of fun facts that will keep your kids clicking and hands-on experiments that will keep them busy for hours.

DiscoveryKids.com
The Discovery Channel has a page just for kids. Watch programs and play games.

Kids.gov
Through this site you can connect to over 1,200 different web pages. Explore a wide variety of subjects, including: code breaking, health, fitness, money, math, science and more.

SmithsonianEducation.org
You many never get to visit the Smithsonian Institution in person, but a virtual visit offers a lot of educational material.

NatioanalGeographic.com
If your kids love nature and animals, then the National Geographic site offers a wonderful window into the the natural world.

WorldAlmanacforKids.com
Facts, facts and more facts are what you'll find here.

WhiteHouseforKids.gov
Great resource for history and government.
