Always Look Twice

Hello, and welcome back! School has started, and now the house is quiet on my day off. At least, for a couple more hours. That's plenty of time for me to get a bit of reading done, not to mention a little writing. Of course, it's so beautiful outside, I really should play in the garden. Perhaps later. I'm finishing a really good book today, and the weeds aren't going anywhere.

This time out, I have Geralyn Dawson's latest, Always Look Twice (Signet). This time out Mark Callahan meets up with his wife, Annabelle Monroe unexpectedly, while in Hawaii on a covert operation. Though they haven't seen one another in two years, the heat still flares between them, making a difficult operation even more challenging. When they next meet, they're divorced, though neither is happy about it, and someone is killing former members of their old military team. The remaining members team up to find out who and put a stop to the deaths. That means Mark and Annabelle have to work very, very closely together again. Oh, darn. Of course, Mark still has his messed-up father issues tangling up his emotions where Annabelle is concerned, and she's determined now not to settle in a relationship, but that she wants the whole package: love and all. She just doesn't believe she can have that with Mark, no matter how she still feels about him. When the killer targets the team's families, things get even more complicated. This one is full of the same humor and sparkling sexual tension as Never Say Never, along with the same high level of suspense: will they get to the bad guy before he gets to them, or not? Mark and Annabelle are perfectly matched, and their story was a real joy to read. Along with the first two Callahan brothers, we meet some very interesting members of Mark and Annabelle's old team, the Fixers. The next book in the series can't possibly come soon enough for me, though I know we have quite a wait to get our hands on it. But I think I can entertain myself by rereading the first three books. After all, the Callahan brothers are terrific romance novel heroes. I'm giving this one four of Cupid's five arrows. (And seriously dying in anticipation for the next!)

Until next time, happy reading!
