Midnight Sins

Midnight Sins
Hello, and welcome back! Our weather guessers have guessed wrong again--no snow for the holidays this week, just a little rain and ice. I was really hoping for snow today, on the first day of winter. Oh well. Maybe next year? I've dug through all of the December romances now, which means I get to start reading January books. I don't know if I can explain how happy that makes me. However, I do still have the rest of those December books to share with you all, starting with the newest Cynthia Eden.

Midnight Sins (Brava) is out now, and continues her look into the paranormal world that intersects with our own. Cara Maloan is a succubus, which puts her near the top of the list of suspects in the string of murders detective Todd Brooks and his partner are investigating. But Cara and Todd have a sizzling attraction that fires between them from their very first meeting, even though she tries hard to tone down her natural instincts. After all, she's sworn off sex. Rather a difficult accomplishment for a creature that requires that energy to live, but not completely impossible. Of course, no one really believes she'll be able to maintain that goal once she and Todd cross paths. Todd's got his own issues, including still not knowing just how to handle his partner's own paranormal abilities--a piece of knowledge his partner doesn't know he's got, which seriously complicates their working relationship and makes this case even more of a challenge. Until their last case, Todd didn't even know there were such things as shapeshifters, let alone things like demons in his world. Discovering Cara's true nature is a bit of a shock for him, but he can't seem to walk away, no matter what she is. If you pay close attention, you're going to know whodunit before the end of the book, but that didn't matter to me in this one, because the real attraction in this story is Cara and Todd's developing relationship, which is compelling and sexy all along the way. I like Ms. Eden's work more and more as she goes along. This one's earned four and a half of Cupid's five arrows. I look forward to seeing what she does next in this series.

Until next time, happy reading!
