Angels are one of those clipart elements that are a classic and will suit many themes or occasions.
Recently I have been called an 'angel' twice. It is an overwhelming, humble feeling to know you have helped someone more than you realized.
What is an angel? Growing up my idea of an angel was purely a religious-based concept. An angel was an awesome kind of being that only lived in the Bible and in church, and something that was quite spooky to me. How I thought they looked was influenced by the literature and movies at the time. Angels were mostly white, mostly female, looked like humans, were serene and saintly and didn't have to walk anywhere because the lucky things had wings. They appeared mostly when people were alone at night time and mysteriously disappeared when their message was conveyed usually fading until you couldn't see them anymore. Oh! And they could sing.
The original concept (for me) of angels was that they were messengers of God, go-betweens that crossed and linked two worlds and beings to be feared. I hoped that I would never get a visit from one because then I would have to watch myself and be good all the time. If I just kept out of the way, then I wouldn't be noticed.
Then I grew up and realized angels are different things to different people. People have their own definitions and refer to angels on earth or angels among us.
In this sense, an angel is someone who appears in your life when you need help. Someone who can get a message through to you in a way you can understand and relate to. Someone who enhances your life in some way. You don't have to have known them for a length of time. Maybe they made you smile when you were feeling down or said something comforting.
I have been thinking about the angels in my own life. There have been many. I think we all have our many angels. I guess the point is just whether or not we notice them.
Who has helped you in your life? Who can you be an angel to?
