FA CUP 4th Round Weekend. The oldest knock-out cup competition in the world – the FA Cup is always an entertaining spectacle, providing the opportunity for many an upset and this weekend was no exception. Non league Kettering were the lowest ranked side left in the competition, but were still hoping to knock out Premier League Fulham at home. Although they did themselves proud and scored 2 goals the gulf was too wide between the teams. The Premiership side won the game 4-2. 3,000 travelling supporters travelled from South Wales to the South Coast of England for the opportunity to see Championship side Swansea take on the cup holders, Portsmouth. Goals from Nathan Dyer and Jason Scotland in the first half and some solid second half defending won the game for the Swans 2-0. Swansea Manager Roberto Martinez praised his defence for their performance in keeping a Pompey strikeforce at bay which includes England International Peter Crouch. "Portsmouth threw everything, they had nothing to lose, they had to chase the game and they've got a player who's been moving around in world football for £26m so you are going to expect them to get chances," said Martinez. Defender Ashley Williams, accepted the praise and gave some back for his manager, ''It was like land of the giants at times,'' said Williams ... ''They knew they had a significant height advantage, so they tried to use that against us. But we defended strongly '' ''We did ourselves proud as a team and showed the rest of the country what we can do,'' Williams told the Swansea Evening Post. ''We are seen as a little corner of Wales. The gaffer has had some great reviews, which he really deserves. Portsmouth manager Tony Adams told the BBC, "It's disappointing to go out of the FA Cup, no matter what round it is. "You have to put defeats like this to bed as quickly as possible." An all Premiership clash saw last seasons League Champions Manchester United, take on last season's League Cup winners, Tottenham Hotspur. Roman Pavlyuchenko gave Spurs the lead before Manchester United got into gear. Paul Scholes equalised before Dimitar Berbatov scored the winner that knocked his former team out and put his new club into the 5th round draw.
