Drybees bamboo cloth diapers are soft and absorbent, yet fast to dry and easy to use. Gotta love that! The new Drybees Gone Natural line offers two sizes of adjustable bamboo diapers. Size 1 will fit from about 5 pounds to 15 pounds. Size 2 is said to fit from 12 pounds to 36 pounds, but my tester is only 12 pounds and she is wearing it on a medium setting. She wears mostly medium diapers now, so this is a typical medium fit. I think this diaper could easily be used as small as 8 pounds so for many babies this is a birth to potty training diaper.
Both sizes adjust with snaps at the front, so they can be adjusted for several rise settings. Two attached soakers allow for plenty of absorbency while still drying quickly since no single part of the diaper is very thick, but taken together you have lots of layers in the middle.
Drybees Gone Natural are a fitted diaper, so you will need to use a diaper cover over them. I have tried several and the Bummis and Thirsties are great, as are Sheepish Grins One Size Wool covers.
Why bamboo for a diaper?
Bamboo is naturally antibacterial and is very breathable. It does a great job of wicking moisture away from the skin. Bamboo is easy on the environment and bamboo is a renewable resource. This is one fast-growing plant and can grow up to a foot a day without pesticides or fertilizers. A stand of bamboo will absorb 40 percent more carbon dioxied than a similar stand of trees.
Bamboo fabrics are very, very soft. Bamboo velour is one of the softest fabrics I have ever felt. It is like diapering your kid with a cloud.
Best of all, bamboo is 60 percent more absorbent than cotton, so it makes a wonderfully absorbent but trim fitting diaper. You can create a really thin diaper without sacrificing absorbency.
