WWE's Stacy Keibler Wraps up "Dancing with the Stars". Did She Win?

WWE's Stacy Keibler Wraps up
In what many consider a shocker, WWE Diva Stacy Keibler was voted off of the finals of “Dancing with the Stars” tonight and ended up in third place behind football great Jerry Rice and former 98 Degrees boy bander Drew Lachey.

Drew Lachey and his professional dancing partner Cheryl Burke ended up winning the contest and taking home the trophy.

Stacy had been an early favorite and consistently pulled in high scores and loads of praise from the three judges. Her early dance lessons and cheerleading skills paid off as she came off very graceful and poised. Maybe too much so.

On the official ABC “Dancing with the Stars” message boards, fans banded together to decry Stacy’s involvement on the show citing she was a trained dancer and thus, overqualified to be on the show with the rest of the celebrities. She did take tap, jazz, and ballet lessons and was a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader. She is also a former WCW Nitro Girl who danced live weekly but certainly not ballroom style.

Last week in the finals, her freestyle dance disappointed the judges and she pulled in a lower score than usual. I have to admit, it was certainly not up to par for her and she dropped the ball with that dance. However, much of the blame goes to her partner, professional dancer Tony Dovolani, who choreographed the disco dance they chose to do.

Still, their earlier dance that night brought in a perfect score, one of several the two got throughout the course of the show.

Going into Sunday's finale, Stacy seemed to be a lock at coming in at least second as Jerry Rice was clearly not as technically skilled as she or Drew.

Stacy and Tony's dance tonight pulled in a perfect score and left her and Tony just one point from tying Drew and Cheryl for the top spot overall on the judges board. However, the fans thought otherwise and had voted since Thursday's final audience voting show for Jerry and Drew more than for Stacy. It was quite a shock when the host called Stacy’s name as the first to be eliminated in the finale.

She took the loss with grace and kept smiling but was clearly upset – and should have been. As much as I like Jerry Rice’s personality and admire his football accomplishments, he certainly isn’t in the same class as Stacy Keibler as far as dancing goes.

In the end, it was Drew and Cheryl taking him the prize but Stacy will be remembered by many in the industry as one of the best dancers on the show. She has made numerous appearances on TV and radio talk shows and has said she has been getting offers for TV, films, and other Hollywood gigs and her future is in acting.

She is still under WWE contract and will be for a few months. I am sure WWE will try to get her back on TV as soon as possible to capitalize on the new fan base she has accrued.

I believe she will leave WWE at the end of her contract and pursue opportunities away from wrestling as she has hinted at while answering talk show questions on which she has been a guest.

Congratulations to Stacy for being #3 out of 10 on this season’s “Dancing with the Stars” and I hope she fulfills whatever dreams she has in the future.

I will be back with more news about another ECW pay per view in June, a new wrestling show on MTV, more on the 6:05 Legends Reunion live show and pay per view, and lots of WWE and TNA news and notes.

Have a great week!

Patty
