Blow Dry Ideas for Fuller Hair

Blow Dry Ideas for Fuller Hair
For many of us, full, thick looking hair doesn’t just happen all by itself. It usually takes some expertise in handling the styling products and the blow dryer. To get the most fullness from your hairstyle, use some of these blow dry techniques.
  1. Shampoo and condition your hair using volumizing products. They are formulated to provide support while not adding weight.
  2. Blot your hair to damp dry with a towel. The easiest way to do this is to wrap it in a towel for a few minutes before continuing with styling. If your hair is very fine or thin and dries quickly, wrap it in a towel and unwrap it immediately.
  3. Apply firm hold styling foam or styling gel from the root area to the ends - concentrating on the root area. Styling foam is usually lighter and more effective on very fine hair while gel is often more effective on coarse or heavy hair.
  4. Blow dry your hair as soon after shampooing as possible. The longer it is allowed to lie flat, the harder it will be to get fullness into your style later.

Instead of brushing your hair as you dry it, you can use your vent brush to lift your hair straight up. Direct the force of the blow dryer at the root area of the strand that is being held up. Dry it and move on to the next strand of hair and then the next, using this method. Dry the root area first and then move on to the ends. If you have applied enough styling product at the root area, the fullness will be ‘set’ in with the dryer.
If lifting your hair with the brush is too difficult, try drying your hair in the opposite direction of the way it is in the finished style. When it is combed back into the position that you want it to be in, it will poof up and provide fullness.
If your hair falls forward, direct the blow dryer toward the back. If it falls toward the right, blow it toward the left. If it falls toward the left, blow it toward the right.
For fullness toward the bottom of your hair style use the force of the blow dryer to blow your hair up and out away from your head. Again, it is best to dry your hair at the root area first, setting the fullness in with the styling product and heat of the blow dryer.
