Hello, and welcome back! Today we're getting a break from the hot and humid weather, but sadly, it isn't going to last long. And I have to go to work, so I can't even enjoy it much. Too bad. I've finished my August reading and started on the September review books, but I still have some August romances to share with all of you here.
Rita Herron is back this month with Dark Hunger (Grand Central), the second in her Demonborn series. This time out, Quinton Valtrez is on the hunt for a killer, but television reporter Annabelle Armstrong keeps getting in his way. Annabelle believes he's an assassin, and she's determined to get her story, even if she's attracted to him. But she sees him do something she can't quite believe, which only heightens her curiosity. Quinton knows he has evil in him, but he has been using his powers to do good instead. Now, that decision has made him a target, because someone wants him to use his abilities for a different cause, and it will take a lot of strength to resist. His enemy is using others to do his dirty work, for now, and one of his choices has close ties to Annabelle, which keeps her closely involved, no matter how much Quinton might want to keep her safely away. Annabelle is no weakling, but her curiosity, an asset as a reporter, is going to get her in a lot of trouble here. Quinton is another great, tortured hero, with a horrid past he can't escape, and the willingness to put the well-being of those he cares about ahead of his own. Plus he's super-sexy. Obviously, we know at the start that he'll manage to overcome the evil that is after him, but we don't know how, and it's the getting there that's all the fun. This is a great addition to the series, and I'm really looking forward to seeing his brother Dante's story. Paranormal fans, if you're bored with all the vampires, you need to pick this series up in a hurry. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one.
Until next time, happy reading!
