Baby By Surprise

Baby By Surprise
Hello, and welcome back! We had a couple of really soggy, miserable days here, but today the sun was back out for a beautiful end-of-summer day. I don't think there will be too many more that are as warm as this one, but I'm such a big fan of autumn, I don't care. I've been busy reading through this month's romance releases. I've read some I don't really care for, and have saved some I know I'm going to love for the bottom of my reading stack, but am still hoping to find some unexpected treasure in the middle.

This time out, I have the latest from Karen Rose Smith in her 'Baby Experts' series, Baby By Surprise (Silhouette Special Edition). Dr. Francesca Talbot is very good at her job, though she's well aware of the changes her unborn baby will bring to her life in three more months. She's unprepared, however, for the changes her diagnosis of gestational diabetes will bring unexpectedly. Now she must turn to Grady Fitzgerald, her baby's father, for a little assistance before she'd intended to. Grady and Francesca share some serious chemistry, which is one reason Francesca has stayed away from him. She doesn't want that to cloud her judgment where men (and Grady, in particular) are involved. Grady's not willing to make an exception about career-driven women, even for Frannie and his desire for her. But he is more than willing to keep an eye on her when she needs some help for a few days. This pair, however, has too many differences to work out, no matter what emotions their close quarters encourage. Then their baby decides to make an early appearance, just when things between Francesca and Grady have taken a turn for the worse. And Grady pulls a man-thing (you know, one of those where he does something to help without thinking of the consequences first), which pushes the worst of Francesca's relationship buttons. As always with a romance from Karen Rose Smith, a reader is guaranteed an emotionally-gripping story, and this is no exception. Francesca and Grady both have past relationship issues to overcome, and both manage to step on the other's toes in the process, but there's never any doubt that their romance will have a happy ending, one way or another. This one is sweet more than steamy, but the romance is very satisfying. It's earned three and a half of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
