Viking Heat

Viking Heat
Hello, and welcome back! Still looking gloomy here, though the weather-guessers claim it’s going to get nicer soon. We’ll see. And in the meantime, that just means we can stay inside and read more of our September romances. Or at least, you all can, since I don’t have a day off again for nearly a week. Not that I won’t find some reading time before and after work.

This time out, I have the latest from Sandra Hill, Viking Heat (Berkley). Sandra Hill has been one of my favorite authors for many years, ever since I discovered Reluctant Viking. In this installment of her popular time-travel Vikings, psychologist-turned-SEAL-in-training Joy Nelson finds herself stranded more than a thousand years in the past with Brandr who thinks she’s a slave his brothers have brought him. Boy, has he got another thing coming. Except the Viking is sexy as all get-out, and while Joy works with his traumatized sister, she also gets to spend time with Brandr, who’s determined to have her in his bed, and he’s difficult to resist. Brandr is impressed with his new thrall’s intelligence, even as he often finds it turned against him, and her strength, and, while they battle each other and
their desire, he discovers that more than his body wants Joy around for a very, very long time. Sandra Hill has a real knack for writing hilarious and sexy romances, and her Vikings are really her best. I like all her books very much, but this series has been my favorite, probably since I started with them a long time ago. Brandr is a terrific Hill hero: strong, sexy, and able to have his mind changed about women by the one woman perfect for him. Joy is great, too, more than able to fend for herself, even when she finds herself somewhere completely unexpected and different than the world she’s accustomed to. And the two of them together are amazing. If you don’t laugh out loud during the reading of this one, something’s wrong with your funny bone. Then there are pages that will scorch your fingers as you’re reading. This one is a real treat, and a definite keeper. It’s earned four of Cupid’s five arrows. I can’t wait for the next one.

Until next time, happy reading!
