Bodies of Subversion 2 Ed: A Secret History of Women and Tattoo

This history of women and tattooing is not only authored by a women, but put out by a woman-owned press. Juno Books was founded by Andrea Juno, who cut her teeth at Re/Search and their seminal body art volume MODERN PRIMITIVES. This book includes info on both influential tattooed women and artists as well as tons of photos.

This great volume was both authored and photographed by women, thus providing a unique insight into the world of tattooing. The author speaks from her twelve year experience as a tattooed woman, artist and writer. Includes commentary on the social stigma of tattooing and spiritual connections.
The New Tattoo by Victoria Lautman, Vicki Berndt (Photographer)
Another great tattoo book produced by another female author/photogapher duo. Categories showcase many popular tattoo themes and styles with full-color pictures.
