How to Seduce a Sinner

Guest Author - Elizabeth Darrach

Hello, and welcome back! The worst of the cold snap is nearly over. For now, I suppose, since it is still the middle of winter. But that just means it's a good time to curl up inside with a cup of hot chocolate or tea and a good book to keep you entertained. It's a really good thing we all have so many choices in reading material. Then there are all the choices in the tea and hot chocolate departments, as well, and we should all find something to suit us in the dead of winter, right?

This time, I have Adrienne Basso's How to Seduce a Sinner (Zebra). Dorothea Ellingham doesn't want a husband who doesn't induce a passionate response in her, and she's nearly given up on that idea after her last several lackluster kisses. Then Carter Grayson, Marquess of Atwood, kisses her, and the sparks fly. But Carter isn't interested in marriage, though he is very interested in more of those kisses with Dorothea. Turns out the only cure for that is marriage, and he eventually succumbs to the temptation that is Dorothea, though it's a twisted, winding path, with plenty of opportunity for seduction along the way. But passion alone doesn't promise a good marriage, though sometimes it leads to deeper and more permanent emotions, and with a woman like Dorothea, Carter may get far more than he's bargained for. This one is a light, enjoyable read for a winter's day, with the lovely Carter, bent at first on remaining a single rogue, before realizing that marriage to Dorothea will be at least as much entertainment as his bachelorhood. And Dorothea does some growing from the beginning of the story to the end, when she has finally earned that happy ending romance readers adore. There are sweet and funny moments throughout this one, and if it takes Carter a little long to realize his emotional attachment to his bride, well, he is a man, and we know sometimes they fail to see what's right in front of their eyes, yet we love them anyway, as Dorothea does Carter. I'm giving this one three of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
