For the launch of two new flavors from PepsiCo brand SoBe, a bit of classic cheesecake has been restyled to more closely resemble post-modern body art. The images have a naughty hint of "is she, or isn't she?" and yet all modesty is is retained. If you haven't seen them yet, what we're talking about are the snake-like patterns adorning the torso of Ashley Greene, best known to teens everywhere as the movie persona of Alice Cullen from the Twilight series of films.
What looks like pure body painting is in fact a bit of an illusion. The actress is wearing skinsuits, actual bathing suits designed to be covering and yet invisible. Applied over a primer to hold them in place, these suits are then a base for some complex body painting of which only a tiny part is actually done directly on her body. Make-up artist Joanne Gair spent about twelve hours hand-drawing scales, then filling them in and then shading them to reproduce the look of the colors and scaled lizard icon on the bottles of SoBe's new Lifewater flavors called Cherimoya Punch and Strawberry Dragonfruit. Multiple colors, hand painting, air brushing and more went into the creation of these amazing body designs. The results are part of the "Zero Calories, Zero Inhibitions" campaign which began in January in Las Vegas and which will really reach the masses when the images appear in the Sports Ilustrated's infamous annual Swimsuit Edition, which will hit newsstands on Wednesday February 10th. You can view the full range of images and learn more about the photo shoot or watch a video that shows just how the body painting process went on the SoBe website.
