Holiday Parties for Children: A Complete Planning Guide icon
Holiday parties are a treat for both children and adults, but putting together a holiday-themed party may seem daunting. These plans for celebrating 16 different holidays can turn any parent into a well-prepared party-planner.

It's easy to create a mood for your Thanksgiving get-together. Here are some simple ideas to create festive atmosphere:

Ribbons
One year I hung long lengths of gold curling ribbon from my ceiling. This combined with a table sprinkled with gold glitter created a sparkling and beautiful presentation which my guests raved about.

Lighting
Candles set throughout your home and on side tables create a beautiful setting. If you don't want to have candles, dim your lights or place strings of clear Christmas lights on buffet or coffee tables and cover with sheer fabric.

Decorations
Decorate your home with stuffed turkeys, scarecrows, pilgrims, Indian corn and other Thanksgiving symbols. Set fresh pots of Fall mums throughout your home, on steps and near the front door.

If you're short on Thanksgiving decorations, use your Christmas decorations. You'll not only add beauty to your party, but you'll get a head start on your Christmas decorating.

I would advise against using the Santa's and snowmen, but greenery, garland and lights are a perfect addition for your Thanksgiving event.
