Seattle’s Best Canned Iced Lattes

Guest Author - Gayle E. Santana

Just in time for the spring and summer seasons, Seattle’s Best Coffee is debuting a line of canned Iced Lattes. The flavors available thus far are Iced Latte, Iced Vanilla Latte and Iced Mocha Latte. At the suggested retail price of $1.49, they are also right in line with prices of other canned drinks.

Seattle’s Best has an amusing website set up that not only educates, it entertains as well. Showing an alarm clock as it loads, there are different versions of a sunrise that you can choose. Click on the can and you will get the nuts and bolts about nutrition information and flavors. Their tagline is, “Discover your inner morning person.”

Nutritional Information

The nutrition information for the Seattle’s Best Canned Iced Lattes is as follows:

Serving Size: 1 Can
Calories: 130
Fat: 2 Grams
Transfat: 0
Sodium: 50 grams

This calorie count is a reasonable one, comparable to a 12 ounce can of Coca-Cola and many other coffee offerings both by Seattle’s Best and Starbucks as well as those at some of the other chains. In fact if you check into some of the serious drinks with whipped cream and syrups added, you may find that the calorie count may be double and even triple the count of these canned lattes.

For now, the Seattle’s Best Canned Iced Lattes are only available in the Western United States including Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.

Who is Seattle’s Best?

One of the interesting things about Seattle’s Best is that it is actually a subsidiary of Starbucks. In 2003, Starbucks acquired its then rival, the Seattle Coffee Company, for $72 million dollars. Make no mistake though, while Seattle’s Best is owned by Starbucks, Seattle’s Best has its own history and brand. The Seattle’s Best brand is considered milder than the bold flavor one comes to expect from Starbucks.
