Man of the West

Man of the West
Hello, and welcome back! While it's cool outside right now, it's still very pretty when I look out the window. And by the weekend, it's going to feel much more like summer than spring. Until the next round of rainy weather rolls in, anyway. I imagine many of you are enjoying beautiful spring weather where you are, too, and I hope you're still getting in plenty of reading time with your outdoor chores.

This time around, I have the latest from Sadie Callahan, Man of the West (Signet Eclipse, received from author). Jolie Jensen has come to the small western Texas town with her daughter to try to make a new life for them, and to hide from her abusive ex-husband. Sheriff Jake Strayhorn knows Jolie's keeping secrets, but something about her draws him in, and he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, and he'll need to do his very best, as danger has followed her to his little town. I am such a huge fan of this author, no matter what name she writes under, whether it's Anna Jeffrey or Sadie Callahan. I absolutely adore the way she creates characters you might meet on the street and make you want to root for them to succeed, for them to find their way through all their problems to their happy ending. Jolie is a terrific heroine, creating a new self as she goes, making over the abused woman she used to be into an independent woman who doesn't intend to let another man get close enough to hurt her or her daughter. Yet her heart lets Jake in anyway, as well as some of the other folks she meets when she gets settled into her new home. Jake has issues of his own, with a family that has done more than its fair share of causing pain to one another, but Jolie gets to him far more easily than he would have imagined, and pretty soon, he can't imagine not having her in his life. This story is just fabulous, and will make you laugh and cry during your reading of it, plus you get to revisit Jude and Brady Fallon from Lone Star Woman. It doesn't get much better than this for fans of contemporary romance. I'm giving all five of Cupid's five arrows to this one. I can't wait to see what's next for this talented author!

Until next time, happy reading!
