There is never a shortage of news about coffee. It is the one subject that makes the news in one form or another every single day. Here are a few recent stories that run the gamut from urgent to strange.

The Consumer Memo, 5/21: Wal-Mart recalls GE Coffee Makers
A story in the Kansas City Star online reports a Wal-Mart recall of General Electric Coffee makers. It seems that the “appliances burned, melted and caused a house fire, U.S. regulators said. Wal-Mart has received 83 reports of overheating, including three cases where people were burned by the 12-cup coffee makers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. In one instance, a “significant kitchen fire” damaged countertops, cabinets and a wall, the agency said.”
The model numbers for the defective General Electric coffee makers are black 169164 and the white 169165.

Starbucks to Sell Flavored Coffee in Grocery Stores (Update2)
According to Bloomberg Business Exchange online, Starbucks will be adding a new product to its current grocery store line up. The coffee is called Natural Fusions with vanilla, caramel and cinnamon-flavored packages.
