In Shelter Cove
Hello, and welcome back! I hope you’re all staying nice and cool and well-stocked with new reading material, as there’s plenty of great new titles on the bookstore shelves now that the new month has begun. At work, we’ve been having a hard time keeping some of the new releases in stock, as my regular romance readers from my old store have all made their way to my new store, and they’re really ready for new books to read.
But, before I can start sharing the June books with you, I still have one more May book to share with you. In Shelter Cove (Pocket Star) by Barbara Freethy continues her ‘Angel’s Bay’ series. Brianna Kane has come back to Angel’s Bay with her young son to bury her husband Derek, who spent the last years of his life in prison for an art theft he claimed until the end that he had nothing to do with. She is determined to clear his name, but Jason Marlow, who used to be her husband’s best friend, is sure his former friend was guilty as charged. Jason has always had a thing for Brianna, but she was off-limits once she got engaged to his friend. Now, however, she doesn’t even want to talk to him and she believes he betrayed his old friend. But chance has him staying temporarily next door to the house she’s just moved into, which means she’ll have little choice but to see him, and despite all the issues between them, they share a powerful chemistry. Then there’s the friendship he strikes up with her little boy, who hasn’t had a father figure at all in his short life. Brianna’s in-laws are not happy with her new relationship, and her digging into the art theft has someone determined to keep the truth buried with Derek, and they’ll do almost anything to make sure that happens. Jason is a fabulous hero, strong and sexy, certain he’s done the right thing, but soft enough to understand the hurt Brianna and her son have suffered. Brianna knows her husband’s part in her life ended with his death, but that doesn’t mean she won’t still do her best to clear his name. But falling in love with Jason is painful, too, because by letting him into her heart, she’s bound to hurt her in-laws, no matter what the outcome of her investigation into the art theft. Freethy is an amazing author, and I’ve loved her stuff for a long, long time. I’m really enjoying this series a lot, and I hope she continues to revisit Angel’s Bay in the future. There are a lot of people there I’d like to get to know better, and I’m sure other readers feel the same way. This one’s earned four of Cupid’s five arrows. I can’t wait to see where Ms. Freethy takes us next.
Until next time, happy reading!
