aPAD's Are Here!
The iPAD seems to dominate the market, however, Android is making waves. Today you will find many clones of the iPAD that use the Android operating system and that is driving the price down. You can purchase aPAD’s starting at $139! Many are calling these ‘clones’ enhanced eBook readers, which they are with more perks than the average eBook reader.

One ‘clone’ scheduled for release November 1, 2010 is the Borders’ Cruz Reader. The price point for this device is only $199 with many features that make this reader very attractive.

Some features include:

** Full–Color 7" Screen
This is not as large as the iPAD so it makes reading and searching the Internet easier. Carrying this device also become more compact. This device is color, using the LCD back lit screen instead of the popular eInk technology. There is a ‘night’ reading setting that you can use that is said to relieve eye strain.

** Font Resizing & Day/Night Reading mode’s & Touch Screen
Adjust the font to the size you want, and choose between day and night reading modes. The resistive touch screen means convenient, controlled page turning.

** Accelerometer
With the Cruz Reader you no longer have to push a button to switch between portrait and landscape views ~ all you need to do is rotate the Cruz Reader.

** Internet & Multimedia
Now you can browse the Internet, play music, watch videos, view documents and more using any WiFi connection.

** View Docking Station
The included docking station turns the Cruz Reader into an interactive media hub and picture frame.

** APP Approved
Download and run Android APP’s on the Cruz Reader! Several APP’s come pre loaded with the Cruz Reader such as Borders eBook reader, YouTube, Facebook, Twidroid, eBuddy, Email, CruzSync, Music, Gallery, Astro File Manager, Calculator, and Alarm clock.

** File Types Accepted
ePUB, TXT, HTML, PDB, PDF, DOC, MP3, WAV, AAC, MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP files are supported.

** Games?
YES! You can play games on the Cruz Reader with the touch screen and built-in accelerometer making the Cruz Reader a great portable gaming device. Several games are pre-installed.

I am very excited about seeing all these ‘clones’ coming to market. The eBook Readers are definitely having a face lift and this lift is welcomed!
