Stronger Than Sin

Stronger Than Sin
Hello, and welcome back! I hope all of you here in the U.S. had lots of fantastic food last week and that if you were compelled to go shopping over the weekend, you found what you were looking for. I hope, too, that you found some reading time over the holiday weekend, since there are so many great romance out now. The stack on my desk makes me want to call in to work and say I'm sick, so I can stay home to read. Alas, that can't happen, but I am still finding reading time between work shifts.

This time out, I have the latest from Caridad Pineiro, Stronger Than Sin (Grand Central, received from publisher). This one continues the series she began last year, with the vile doctors at Wardwell Laboratories making genetic changes to patients coming to them as a last resort for fatal diseases and serious injuries. We met Dr. Liliana Carrera then, and now she's treating Jesse Bradford, another of Wardwell's genetically enhanced patients. Wardwell's doctors have fixed the injury that brought Jesse to them and made him extraordinarily strong in the bargain, but the changes they've made to his body may eventually kill him if Liliana doesn't find a way to reverse the process. Then again, the scientists there may do the job themselves if Jesse continues to escape and cause trouble at the facility. If you're tired of the vampires that seem to still be taking up an awful lot of shelf space in the romance section and want a paranormal story that's different, you really need to give this one a try. With villains who are truly evil, uncaring of the damage they're doing to their patients with their experiments, and a hero and heroine who share some very serious chemistry, this one is full of suspense and action to enhance the romance between Jesse and Liliana. Another bonus: we get to revisit Liliana's brother Mick and Caterina from Sins of the Flesh. This one will have you cheering for Jesse and Liliana to find a way out of danger and get their happy ending. A great story, this one's earned four of Cupid's five arrows.

Until next time, happy reading!
