The Tattoo Wedding of the YearOnce upon a time, back in the early 20th century, every summer dozens upon dozens of carnivals and small circuses would tour the countryside. They were an extremely popular source of entertainment for folks in a small town, and the sideshow was often brought the wildest things people had ever seen in their lives. Or at least that's what they promised for your simple dollar-or-two admission. Every now and again, sometimes for love and sometimes to make sure they had a better draw than their competition, two of the sideshow performers would get married. Having the World's Tallest Man and the Half Girl wed each other was a sure draw (true story and it happened for love too!). But sometimes it was just so that the audience could come and stare at the Alligator Man and the Bearded Lady and wonder in awe over if they were going to have kids and what might happen if they did. We don't have sideshows much anymore, but reality television isn't too different and this week, two tattooed reality tv stars announced their impending nuptials. This probably isn't the "tattooed wedding of the century" as we're only a decade into the 21st century, and there's no telling what's yet to come, but it's clearly shaping up to the tattooed wedding of the year. Less than a year after being divorced by his Oscar-winning actress wife for multiple instances of cheating, custom motorcycle designer Jesse James has announced his engaged to his girlfriend of the last four months, tattoo artist Kat Von D. Is this a rebound for James? It does seem a little quick as just a year ago, he was still married to ex-wife Sandra Bullock. And for Kat, is this a romantic case of wishful thinking? Over the last year lots of women from his past have come forward and talked about how just about every relationship he's ever had has broken up due to his infidelity. Or do you think Ms. Von D is so post-modern, she'll negotiate something like an open relationship? Given her past statements that's she's a romantic and hasn't had a lot of boyfriends, that doesn't seem so likely. Is this just a gimmick to boost the upcoming seasons of LA Inked? Do you think either of them are thinking clearly? As both are heavily covered in ink already, do you think they'll get some sort of couples' tattoo? Tell us what you think in the forum!
