Halloween Comedy Costume Ideas

Guest Author - Caitlin D Neely

Still running around trying to find a costume for Halloween? Try one of the costume ideas below and dress up as a comedy character or comedic icon. Costumes include Charlie Chaplin, Hannah Montana, The Blues Brothers and Lucille Ball.
Charlie Chaplin was born in 1889 in England. Chaplin is known for his physical comedy and silent films. The costume below is modeled off of Chaplin’s signature look and a famous movie, “The Tramp”.

Charlie Chaplin
Black bowler hat
Black baggy pants/trousers
A fitted black jacket (Chaplin wore his very tight)
Large black shoes
Cane (Chaplin used a bamboo cane)
White undershirt
Tie or bowtie
“Tooth brush” moustache; you can buy one online or use Halloween makeup

Miley Cyrus portrays a girl that has the best of both worlds in the Disney series Hannah Montana. This costume is popular with young girls and pre-teens

Hannah Montana
Long blonde wig with bangs
Jeans
A ‘flashy’ shirt; sequined or sparkly is best and any color like red, gold, etc will work
Any shoes like flats or cowboy boots

A cropped or military jacket is optional as is a microphone. You can also wear a dress or denim skirt with leggings underneath.

John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd starred in the hit 1980 movie The Blues Brothers. Get into the singing mood and start belting out the blues!

Blues Brothers
Black suit jacket and pants
White undershirt
Black tie
Black sunglasses (a must!)
Black dress shoes
Black fedora hat

A microphone or harmonica is optional. You can also write Jake or Elwood on your knuckles depending on which character you are dressing up as.

I Love Lucy was a hit television show in the 1950s and 60s and is still popular today. So don a red wig (or red hair) and don’t forget to practice the Vitameatavegamin commercial!

Lucille Ball
A red curly wig. Or you can copy a 1950s poodle cut hairstyle
A 50s style dress. It should have a long dress skirt and collar and sleeves that are white. A polka dot patterned dress is best
Flesh pantyhose
Black pumps/heels
