Hair Styles for a Heart Shaped Face

Hair Styles for a Heart Shaped Face
You may have a widow’s peak - that’s where your hair grows down in a little point in the center of your forehead. Your forehead is wide and your face shape angles down to a narrow or even pointy chin. You have a heart-shaped face. Hairstyles designed to flatter this type of face shape have lines that take away from the width at the forehead and add width in the chin area. Slimming the forehead can be achieved by angles in the hairstyle or by allowing the hair to fall over part of the forehead. Width at the chin line can be achieved by cutting a horizontal line in that area – as in a basic bob hair cut – or by adding fullness in the form of curls or flips in the hair.

The designs shown below will give you some ideas for the most flattering hair styles for you.
This flirty bob is young, casual and carefree. The heavy full bangs help to control an unruly widow’s peak. They should not extend all the way to the sides of your face but rather just to the outside corners of your eyes. Extending the bang are too far to the sides and your forehead will appear even wider than it is. Brush the bangs slightly to the side to avoid a horizontal line across your brow. This is a chin length bob with the ends texturized so that they flip out slightly, softening the chin area and giving the illusion of more width.

Blow this style dry with a vent brush, tucking the bangs under and to the side. Turn the brush up at the ends, giving it a natural soft flip. Add texture and separation by scrunching in pomade.

This bob is fuller, fluffier, and sports a sexy side bang. Part your hair just above the center of your eye. This is flattering to your eyes and supports an angle that has a slimming effect to your forehead. The layering at the bottom adds softness and fullness at the chin area.

Dry this style with a blow dryer and a large round brush, Turning the bangs under and the ends up. If you need more body, use large hot rollers on the top.

You may prefer longer hair. This style is taken off the face while being allowed to drape down over the ‘corners’ of the forehead – having a slimming effect. The layering in this style starts just above the chin area. Soft flips and curls add fullness at the chin and extend to below the shoulders.

In styling this look, use a round brush with your blow dryer. Brush the bangs up and off your face. You may need to add a firm hold styling gel or mousse for control of a widow’s peak.

This more dramatic bob is full at the bottom, giving width to the chin area. The bang area starts at a low side part and angles across the forehead.

Blow this style dry, creating as much fullness as possible. Part it low on one side and add a spritz of hair spray to control the bangs.
