September 9 2009 Quilting Newsletter

Hi everyone, hope this newsletter finds you all feeling well and on top of things. This week has been a screamer and to be honest, I’ll be glad when it’s over. I’ve been flat out everyday and I’m longing to put my feet up and do a bit of sewing. I’m on a roll with the “liberating” of my stuff and I’ve been so busy, I’m actually getting on first name terms with the local op shop staff!

I’ve finished Annie’s Room and am starting on the main bathroom. The bathroom you ask? Yes, I have kept every single shampoo, soap, shoe cleaner, shower hat, sewing kit etc from every motel, hotel stay we’ve ever taken in our 33 years of marriage. I confess this to you, because I know there’s some of you, like me out there!! I contacted the local homeless shelter and they’d love these soaps etc for their clients. They provide showers and these little items are ideal for individual use. So it’s “round ‘em up and move ‘em out” for most of the contents of my bathroom cupboards. It’s such a wonderful feeling to be seeing bare spaces around the house, I must be careful not to get obsessive/compulsive about it. I do have a OC gene I’m sure, can’t do anything without DOING IT ALL!!

So enough of my character flaws, I hope you enjoyed the two articles I posted last week. The reason I posted two is because I posted one on Saturday, forgot that I’d done that and then posted another on Sunday. Ho Hum, am I loosing it I wonder? Anyway if you missed them here’s the link to both articles. The first is another charity quilt pattern for you, using 6 embroidered blocks, and 6 complimentary blocks. This is an easy quilt to make. Please send me photos when you complete one. Here’s the Link: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art5738.asp

The other link is for a large amount of free bear patterns I’ve sourced all over the web. I had a reader Anna Marie (hi Anna), ask for these and I was only too happy to oblige. Here’s the link:

The forum is available for you to have your say or comment. Don’t be shy, it’s very simple and totally secure. Just a lovely group of quilters who have a chat on line. Here’s the link:

So to my gifts for you this week. Because I’ve been busy liberating my unwanted goods, I’ve been surfing the recycling and “green” craft sites and I’ve come up with these two ideas. They’re all about recycling paper, and old sports shoes. Hope you enjoy them.

Well, that’s all from me this week. I am off to dinner with friends tonight; it’s always so lovely to meet up with loved ones and share a good meal and lots of laughter. Take care everyone, take the time to enjoy your loved ones, and I’ll pop in to say hello next week.

Cheerio for now, and have fun quilting!!
