Dwarf Planets  Dwarf planets are celestial bodies that orbit around the sun. Dwarf planet is a term for an object that is not a planet and not a moon. In 2006 Pluto became a dwarf planet. If it is a dwarf planet it is currently not considered a planet in our solar system. So, there are now eight planets. International Space Station at Full Staff  On May 27, 2009, the Soyuz Russian spacecraft launched from Kazakhstan and hooked up with the International Space Station to drop off three crew members. The linkup took place over 200 miles above the coast of China. It is the first time in the Space Station’s 10 years that it has been fully manned. News from Space September 08  It seems to be a busy week for some space news. Two favorite topics for many are the Hubble Space Telescope and the discussion of life on Mars. Both of our news stories come from data being transmitted from outer space. Planet Orbiting a Star in the Milky Way  Scientists have found and taken pictures of a planet possibly orbiting a star nearly 500 light years away from Earth. What is really special about this is that it is just that, a planet orbiting a star like our planet orbits our sun. Space Junk News  While the planet earth has struggled with its problems of global warming and trying to build a greener future a new problem is in our future. The problem is space junk. Garbage is not just a problem for us on earth; it is a problem for us in space.
