A Childfree Lifestyle is Good for the Planet  I sometimes think nature provides for a certain percentage of the population to remain childfree, just to keep the world sane and balanced. Compassion for Animals is Not Neurosis  Ever wonder why people devoted to caring for pets and animals (other than human) are repeatedly typecast as pathologically needy? This is especially true for childfree pet owners, and even more so for women. GINKS are Childfree and Proud  The GINK movement (green inclinations, no kids) is a supportive and sane voice advising us to "Say it loud! We're childfree and proud!" The GINK Manifesto proudly and logically argues myriad reasons to avoid bringing more kids into a stressed-out world. Images of Pregnancy are Ubiquitous in Media Today  Recent conversations with young women, aspiring to be young mothers, are exemplary of changes in attitudes towards pregnancy in the past few decades – perhaps motivated by a recent barrage of Hollywood and advertising images of pregnancy. Pope Benedict XVI Disapproves of Couples Having Fewer Children  Flipping through the pages of Time magazine recently, I came across a quote that gave me pause. If fewer children is “bad,” then not having children at all must be even worse! Population Control in China  The Chinese government has created new punishments for those who violate family planning policy. Have you ever thought about not having kids to ease the world’s overpopulation? Will the "S Generation" Opt to Have Fewer Kids?  A speaker at one our local college graduations dubbed the students the �S Generation,� S for Sustainability. Unfortunately, no mention was made of the one sustainable practice in which significant change can be made in one generation � choosing to have smaller families - or, no children at all With 300 Million Americans, Why Should I Have Kids?  As we reach this overcrowded milestone, I hope people stop worrying about the child free community causing the end of humankind. But alas, I ask for too much.
