Cellular Phone Messaging Options
I am coming to the realization and acceptance of the time management efficiency in utilizing text messaging as a first choice method of direct short form communication to be a “smarter" use of time. When you need to ask a quick question, give some specific directions or a limited amount of information, texting is a great tool to maximize your time and multi task. I used to think that it was more personable to have a conversation via the telephone but realize now that quite a bit of the time I was leaving voice mail messages anyway.
Some people rarely take time to listen to voice mail messages i.e. my daughter and the text message is much easier to access and is read much sooner. Marketers are saying that most text messages are read within the first five minutes of receiving the message. Text can be read discreetly during meetings and an emergency situation can be realized and addressed much sooner.
Text messaging options include having your incoming voice mail messages converted into a text message. This is an application that is usually an option to your cellular service plan for an additional small fee. This is a quick way to check messages and read the most important messages first. This has proven to be an application that I can’t live without. I am able to view voice messages and address which ones need a quick response and enables me to text immediately back to the number the person called from, if it's a cellular phone number. I like the ease of being able to read the message and not have to dial into my voice mail system to retrieve the message. This is a time saving measure and assists with time efficient responses.
Another text message option application that is included in my cellular phone service plan is visual voice mail. This application enables my voice messages to be seen in order and I have the ability to play the ones I want to hear in the order that is important to me. This application adds an audio file for each voice mail message and allows me to listen to the message without having to dial into my cellular phone’s voice mail system.
The two messaging options together make up an awesome opportunity to never miss or overlook an important message. The voice message to text is not perfect but overall gives you the gist of the message and the visual message with the audio clip allows you the ability to clarify easily any misunderstood converted to text messages. You might think having both of these applications is overkill, but for the extra $3.00 monthly cost added to my service plan for the voice mail to text application it is well worth it. There are times that you cannot listen to a message even if it is a short audio clip but you can do a quick read. This is when the converted voice mail to text really comes in handy, especially, if you are waiting for an important message.
Try these and other texting application options available to you from your service carrier to see what will increase your efficiency and fit your specific needs.
