After the tragic death of his wife, Frank Bannister gave up on everything and decided to use his new-found psychic abilities to rid ghosts from other peoples’ homes—occasionally using some of his spectral friends to do the hauntings. He soon realizes there’s a more sinister force to deal with when he begins to notice the numbers emblazoned on the foreheads of the specter’s next victims. As Frank tries to stop the creature from killing, he finds himself the top suspect in the death. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Frighteneners”.

· Near the beginning of the movie, after leaving the graveyard for the first time, Frank is driving and ends up crashing into Ray’s yard. Ray yells at him and, as he’s backing the car out of the yard, he runs over one of the garden gnomes, smashing its head into several pieces. It cuts to a close-up of Ray, still yelling, and he picks up the gnome with its head intact.

· Frank is talking to Walt at the cemetery, after Ray’s funeral. The workers are shown filling in the grave. They’re still working as Frank walks over to pull the ghost Ray out. In the far view, as Walt turns and watches Frank, the grave workers are nowhere to be seen.

· Milton Dammers is interrogating Frank at the police station when he becomes convinced Frank is trying to kill him. Dammers yells he can’t, rips open his shirt and reveals the breastplate underneath. Dammer’s gray tie is hanging down, in front of the breastplate. As he starts walking toward Frank, the gray tie is over his left shoulder.

· CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Frank convinces Lucy, the only way to stop the killer is to freeze him in the cooler so he can go after him. Frank is in the cooler, and as Lucy turns the dial / thermostat, a close-up shows the color coding on it is only blue. Dammers shows up a few moments later and there is now a red color, beyond the dark blue on the dial.

“The Frighteners” (1996) stars Michael J. Fox, Trini Alvarado, Peter Dobson, John Astin, Jeffrey Combs, Dee Wallace, Jake Busey, Chi McBride, Jim Fyfe, Troy Evans, and R. Lee Ermey. It runs 110 minutes and is rated R for terror/violence.
