Near the end of World War II, Grace lives with her two photosensitive children, Anne and Nicholas, in their isolated home where she tries to shelter them while awaiting the return of her husband, Charles, from the war. Things take on an eerie tone when three strangers arrive to work at the home. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Others”.

· Shortly after Mrs. Mills, Mr. Tuttle and Lydia arrive at the house, the children are eating at the table when they begin to argue. In the front close-up view of Anne when she yells, “Yes it did”, she’s holding her spoon with her right hand near her bowl. It cuts to a wider view of her, Nicholas and Mrs. Mills and Anne’s hand is down, on the table.

· Grace is questioning Anne on the stairs about the noise and who is in the house. In the close-up view, when Grace says, “Anne, I want the truth,” she places her hands on either side of Anne’s face, over her hair. It switches to a front view of Anne when she speaks, and Grace’s hands are down, closer to her neck, under her hair. It’s still that way when it cuts to an overhead view.

· Grace and Mrs. Mills are talking by the fireside one evening. Grace asks Mrs. Mills what happened to Lydia and rests her face against her hands. Her watch is on her right wrist. It cuts back and forth between Mrs. Mills and Grace and the watch is still on her wrist. Mrs. Mill says she’ll go to bed and Grace’s watch is now gone. It’s there again in the wider view of Grace when she says she’ll stay there a while longer.

· Grace, Anne and Nicholas are having dinner at the table after Charles’ return. The wider view, as Anne talks and Grace says, “Shh”, shows Anne picking at the food on her plate with the fork she’s holding in her right hand. It cuts to a close-up view of Anne when she asks, “Where do they go?” and her fork is down, on the side of her plate.

· As Grace searches the house for the curtains, the children are coloring at the table. In the left side view of Anne, when she mentions, “She’s gone mad”, the view shows she’s barely started her drawing. It cuts to a different view when Nicholas says “Liar”, and Anne’s drawing is more complete.

“The Others” (2001) stars Nicole Kidman, Fionnula Flanagan, Christopher Eccleston, Alakina Mann, James Bentley, Eric Sykes, Elaine Cassidy and Renee Asherson. It runs 104 minutes and is rated PG-13 for thematic elements and frightening moments.
