Here are some examples of charitable donations that are very inexpensive.
Your local charity cannot have enough of these on hand. To ensure cleanliness and infection control, cleaning products are essential. The next time you are shopping for your cleaning supplies, pick up an extra bottle of your favorite cleaner. Your local mission will thank you.
With the local shelters being full, there may be a shortage of blankets. If your shelter is turning people away due to capacity, then that leaves people without a place to sleep at night. If the shelter had extra blankets, they may be able to give them out to the people they cannot accommodate.
Many people, who are in transition, will look for trade or construction jobs. If you have old work shoes or boots that are in fairly decent condition, why not donate the items?
Winter clothing is invaluable to a mother who cannot afford coats for her children, or a homeless person who has to face another winter on the streets. If you have a coat that is in good condition, instead of throwing it away, give to your local charity.
If you were to walk into your local mission and ask them if they need help, what do you think the answer would be? There is no end to the work that has to be done. A shelter or food bank can always use more help. Cash and donated items are always in need, but when you invest your time, you become your charity’s greatest resource.
