TGIFridays on Low Carb / Atkins
New Review with the TGIF Atkins Menu

I've eaten at many restaurants on the Atkins diet without any real problem. I was pretty disappointed when we stopped into a TGI Fridays and started looking at the menu.

My boyfriend opted to "create a meal" - he asked for a large house salad with grilled chicken on it and lemon. They were able to do that, but the salad only had iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes in it. So nothing very spectacular. He got an unsweetened ice tea with that.

After looking over the menu many times and realizing even the fish was all breaded, I asked for the shrimp marinara and just ate the shrimp and garlic off the top of the pasta. With it I got a bowl of cream of broccoli soup, which seemed very tasty but might have been sugared. I've emailed them asking them, but haven't heard back.

I looked through their large book of drinks but they didn't even mention wine in it - and the ONLY drink on the menu (besides the martini which I didn't want) that seemed even remotely appropriate was a bloody mary. I figured vodka and tomato juice might be reasonable. Unfortunately when they brought it it was so incredibly salty that I literally couldn't drink more than a sip. Maybe I just got a badly mixed drink, but I had water for the rest of that meal.

OK in a pinch, but since most restaurants tend to exist in groups, I'd head over to another option if you can.
