Long Hair Idea
Check out the latest addition to the Long Hair pages. Thick hair is a good thing to have. However, it may require expert trimming and shaping to give it the control that it needs to look its best.

This young lady has ULTRA thick hair! To give her style some shape, her hair was first cut to a lenght that is just below her shoulders. Then the interior of the hairstyle was created by layering. The shortest layers begin at about chin level and gradually extend downward. The layers are cut at a steep angle from the chin level downward to cause the hair to lay closer to her neck. The shape of the style is finished by introducing a lot of texturizing. This is the only way to remove the bulk and to create shape in the style. This texture is created by employing a point cutting technique to take out one quarter inch wide chunks of hair throughout the bottom half of the hair. The top layer is not texturized so that it does not show. Our model's hair is of a frizzy texture so shorter pieces on top can be unruly.
Shampoo and conditioner that are formulated for coarse, frizzy hair were used to soften and smooth her hair. A thick, fluffy towel was use to remove as much of the moisture as possible - to speed the drying process. Any water left in the hair would undermine the styling process. After her hair was blown it thoroughly dry, a ceramic flat iron was used to further remove some of the excess body in the lower portion, causing the hair to lay closer to our model's neck. A large curling iron is used to put some curve into the top portion of the style and the style is finished using Jingles Jam Pomade. This was lightly run through the hair to add separation in the ends, to control it and to add great shine.
