Adobe Premiere Elements 10 Review

Adobe Premiere Elements 10 Review
Premiere Elements 10 has some new and enhanced tools that will keep it a top-rated editing software. With its automated movie making tools and audio/visual effects, you can create your own movie masterpieces and export to disc, HD TV, online albums, FacebookR or YouTubeR directly from the workspace.

With AdobeR PremiereR Elements you can create projects from both your still photos and video clips and easily keep organized with the improved Elements Organizer, which is integrated with both Photoshop and Premiere Elements. The Auto-Analyzer tags your video and photos for quality and interest (Smart Tags) automatically when you import your media.

The Organizer still has the familiar Organize, Fix, Create and Share tabs which contain the task-based tools and panels. On the Fix tab you will find the video editing tools and on the Create tab are the creative tools including the Instant Movies and DVD with interactive Menu options. On the Share tab you have several options for sharing online and off. In the Premiere 10 workspace, you can burn your HD movies to standard DVD discs, burn a Web DVD, export for mobile devices and share online.

With the free 2GB of online storage (20GB with a Plus membership) and the Organizer Backup/Sync option, you can view your movies on multiple computers and mobile devices with the new Photoshop Express companion app. You can even use your mobile's camera to capture and edit photos and sync from your device to your online Organizer.

One fun new feature in Premiere 10 will create a movie-style slideshow from your still photos. With the Pan and Zoom feature, you can easily create a movie sequence of closeups of areas of a photo. For example, from a group photo you can use the Face Frame tool to "select" each face in the photo. Then Premiere will create a slideshow movie that zooms in on each face as it pans across the photo. You can customize the panning direction and timing/duration on each face.

The Instant Movie feature has some new themes to give your movies a professional touch, including Celebration and In Memory. With Instant Movie you can add synchronized themed music, titles, transitions and other effects to your movie clips.

You can take advantage of HD screens by enhancing your media with the new Color Correction - AutoTone and Vibrance tool with which you can enhance the colors in your movies without affecting the skin tones of the people in the scene. If only certain areas need color correction, you have the new Three-Way Color Corrector that lets you adjust colors in the highlights, shadows or mid-tones. For example, you can enhance the color of a dull sky throughout the entire clip without changing the colors in the rest of the clip.

As with previous upgrades, Elements 10 supports your Adobe Plus account. If I had to choose one thing that I would like to change it would be the separation of the Elements Editor and Organizer windows. I would prefer they be tabbed so that you could quickly switch between the two within the same workspace window.
