This Is The End

This Is The End

Jay Baruchel comes to Los Angeles to try to visit and try to salvage his friendship with Seth Rogen. Things start off on the right foot but when the two arrive at James Franco’s house for a party, the night takes a turn for the worse, especially when the Apocalypse begins and the remaining survivors find themselves barricaded in Franco’s house. While the world is being destroyed outside, those inside must deal with each other. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “This Is The End”.

∙ During the melee outside with the sinkhole, Jonah Hill hits Jay and the close-up shows him going over the edge of the sinkhole. The scene cuts to a further rear view from inside the sinkhole and Jay is falling in again.

∙ Seth is bunking with Jay at Franco’s house. While they’re talking, only Jay’s left arm is across his chest. After he mentions “judgment day”, it cuts to a right side view and his right hand is near his upper left arm just before he puts his hand on his face.

∙ Danny McBride is sitting at the table eating breakfast. When the guys first run towards the table, the cereal box is closer to Danny’s left. In the close-up, when he’s saying “it’s old school”, the cereal box is near the coffee pot, to his right. It cuts to a front view of the guys when Seth says “stop eating” and the box has moved towards the center. In the next close-up of Danny, when he tells them to chill out, the cereal box is back in its original position, to his left.

∙ Emma Watson is swinging the ax and brakes the statue. When she tells them to “hurry up”, in the close-up she’s holding the ax to her left with her right hand over her left. It cuts to a rear view and she’s holding the ax to her right. Also during this scene, in the rear view, she reaches to pick up the bag and she’s holding the ax handle in the middle. The scene cuts to a front view and her hand is near the blade of the ax. She’s holding it in the middle again in the next side view as she begins to walk away. But her hands are back at the blade again in the next front view.

“This Is The End” (2013) stars James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Mindy Kaling, David Krumholtz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Rihanna, Martin Starr, Paul Rudd and Channing Tatum. It runs 107 minutes and is rated R for crude and sexual content throughout, brief graphic nudity, pervasive language, drug use and some violence.
