Artboard Studio Workspace - Start from Scratch

Artboard Studio Workspace - Start from Scratch
In the last tutorial, be started our workspace tour for Artboard Studio. Artboard Studio is a new online, browser-based software for creating product mockups. If you like Canva, you will find Artboard Studio just as easy to use. As it is still in beta, the team is still adding new content every day.

Previously we discussed the workspace options for starting a project from a prebuilt template. Now we will explore options for starting a project from scratch. Many of the controls will be the same, so if you haven't read the previous tutorial, please do so. Then, we can continue to explore some new menus and options that we can use to build our project, one object at a time, from scratch.

Click the Gallery link in the top left menu to go back. When asked, don't save this project. We will start a project from scratch. Going back to the left menu, we can give our new project a name and set a custom width and height for our canvas. At the bottom, we have menu options for choosing default sizes for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest (see screenshot). Let's keep the default settings and click the Start From Scratch button. This will take us to the Main Canvas for our project.

On the Main Canvas page, we have a new menu on the left (see screenshot). We can add an item, background texture, stock photo, text, vector shape, upload an image, resize canvas and import from Figma or a website. At the bottom is the Design Assistant, which is an interactive help panel (see screenshot).

At the top left, we can click the Add To Projects button to add this project to our My Project listing. We also have menu links for returning to our Project page, Gallery or to Export a project. On the right, we can toggle on/off the panels and zoom/pan. (see screenshot)

Spend a little time exploring the panels and controls before starting your first project. You might also want to click the File icon and choose Take The Tour (see screenshot). (Icon - Help & Account Settings - Take The Tour)

As it's still in beta testing, you too can apply to be a tester. Just go to the website and sign up. Check out their walk-through video on their YouTube channel!
