Æblekage (Danish Applecake)

2 c. dry bread crumbs
3 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 c. applesauce
1 c. whipping cream, whipped
Red jelly
Saute bread crumbs and 1 tablespoon sugar in butter until browned. Place in serving dish in alternate layers with applesauce. Serve topped with whipped cream sweetened with remaining sugar. Decorate with red jelly. Yield: 8 servings.
