Adobe Captivate 2 Product Review - 3

The Branching View will display the links or connections between individual slides. This becomes important when you have e learning and other interactive components in your project. This view will show what will happen when the user interacts in a certain way. For example, if his answer to a quiz question is correct, he will take one path. But if he answers incorrectly, he will take another path. If you are creating a project for testing purposes, your quiz or training simulation might become quite complex with several branches or paths the user might follow. Captivate automates this branching for you and saves you one big headache. The Branching View also allows you to collapse one path or branch of the layout, which makes visualizing the branching of your project mush easier.
My favorite feature is the support for recording new slides within an existing project. For example, you might have omitted a step when you originally recorded your demonstration. You do not need to record the entire demo again. Just locate the position where you wish to add the new slides and then record the missing steps. The new slides will be seamlessly added to your project. You can also import and copy/paste slides from other projects.
Once the individual slides and enhancements are complete, you can add other elements that will give your project a professional quality such as a start or splash screen and an end or final credits screen. You can also customize the look and feel of your project with the Skin Editor which has several styles or skins. These skins contain coordinating templates, playback controls, menus and more. You can also create and save your own skins. Lastly, if your project requires several simulations, Captivate will help you create a main menu page.
The finished project can be published in Flash swf or exe formats for intranet or autorun CD and the small file size is great for email and the internet. You can generate accompanying Microsoft Word documents for your trainees. Also, Captivate supports SCORMR, the AICC PENS standard and other Learning Management Systems (LMS). You can also export your project for Adobe AcrobatR ConnectTM Professional. Finally, you can import and edit your Captivate project in Adobe Flash.
