Felix Tshisekedi Returns to DRC to Campaign

Felix Tshisekedi, oppostion leader to longtime president of DR Congo, Joseph Kabila, has returned to DR Congo to kick off his campaign to replace President Kabila. Tshisekedi, with his running mate, campaign director Vital Kamerhe, has vowed to fight election fraud. According to an agreement made between
Tshisekedi and Kamerhe, also a former speaker of parliament, if Tshisekedi wins the majority votes in December 23, 2018 election, he will make Kamerhe his prime minister. Tshisekedi is the son of the late Etienne Tshisekedi, the face of the DRC's opposition for decades. There are 21 candidates in total who are running the presidential race to replace Kabila.
President Kabila has ruled the country ever since his father, president Laurent-Desire Kabila was killed in 2001. Kabila has refused to step down from office ever since his elected term ended in 2016, remaining in the office supported by a clause in the countrys Constitution.
