The Muppet Christmas Carol

The Muppet Christmas Carol
Kermit and the Muppet gang put their own spin on the classic “Christmas Carol” story where the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits of Christmas past, present and future to deter his humbug ways. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “The Muppet Christmas Carol”.

∙ After Scrooge leaves the office after arguing with him employees about taking Christmas day off, Kermit a.k.a. Bob Cratchit and the others begin their holiday celebration. The rat characters make a catapult and in the close-up view, when the one rat jumps from his perch to fling the other one to the window shade, his wires can be seen.

∙ Fred and Clara are having guests on Christmas and suggest playing a game while the Ghost of Christmas Present and Scrooge watch. In the wider view, when Clara says “let Fred be it”, she raises her glass in her right hand in the air, past her shoulder. It cuts to a close-up of her and her arm is down. She then slightly raises her arm again.

∙ When Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Present fade from Fred’s home to the lane outside of Bob Cratchit’s house, the rear view shows they have past the wooden wagon on the left. The scene cuts to a front view of them walking and they’re just passing it. (This is more noticeable by watching the wagon wheel.)

∙ When Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim come home, in the close-up, Bob says “Merry Christmas everyone” and the door is closed with the door latch shut. The bolt that slides across is in front of the latch. But when the other kids run to him, the bolt is hooked in the latch.

∙ When the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come puts its hand on Scrooge, his entire hand, thumb and all, is behind Scrooge’s right shoulder. It cuts to a front view of Scrooge and the ghost’s hand has changed position. He is grasping his shoulder with the thumb in front of him.

“The Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992) stars Michael Caine and the voices of Dave Goetz, Frank Oz, Jessica Fox and Steve Whitmire. It runs 85 minutes and is rated G.
