Adding Glow Filter in Motion Project

Adding Glow Filter in Motion Project
In this Motion tutorial, we will add the Glow filter to our circle animated light. The Glow Filter will soften the edges of the circle to match the soft edges of the Bokeh lights in the background.

  1. With the Circle 1 layer selected, go to the Filter menu icon above the Timeline. From the drop-down menu, select Glow - Glow. You will see the Glow layer added above the Grow/Shrink layer.

  2. Go to the Inspector - Filters and set the following parameters.

    Radius: 12
    Opacity: 3
    Threshold: 1
    Softness: .5
    Mix: 100%

Now we can duplicate this Circle 1 layer and it's attached behaviors and filter to create a second light. All we need to do is move the circle over a second Bokeh light and change the color of the second light to match the new Bokeh light underneath.

  3. Right-click on the Circle 1 layer and choose Duplicate. Motion will duplicate the Circle 1 layer and place it above the original.

  4. Rename the copy to 'Circle 2' and drag the circle over the Canvas to another light in the background graphic.

  5. With the second circle still selected, change the color in the Inspector.

At this point, both circles are blinking at the same time.

  6. Let's drag the second circle's Object Bar to the right until the left edge of the Object bar is at the .5 second point on the Timeline. Now, the second light will begin blinking .5 second after the first.

Repeat this for as many lights as you wish to add over the background image, overlapping the Object Bar for each circle on the Timeline by .5 second. Try to vary the placement of the lights on the Canvas. To make some of the lights more noticeable place the colored circle over a dark area of the background. Save your project.
