Slow Cooker Chuck Roast Recipe for Sandwiches

Slow Cooker Chuck Roast Recipe for Sandwiches
At our house, we love the smell of a roast in the oven, but sometimes they come out of that dry heat and are not as tender as we would like. That's never been a problem with a slow cooker chuck roast. It is always tender and juicy. Filled with flavor, this is an easy way to make a roast for delicious sandwiches.

Slow Cooker Chuck Roast Recipe for Sandwiches

3 ½ pounds chuck roast (I used a choice cut.)
1/3 cup water
3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce (I used Lea & Perrins.)
Badia Steak Seasoning (You may use your favorite garlicky flavored seasoning.)

Cut the roast into 3 pieces. Brown each piece on both sides in a heavy skillet. Pour 1/3 cup of water into a large slow cooker. Place the browned off roast into the slow cooker. Rub 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce into the top of each piece of meat. Sprinkle with Badia Steak Seasoning, or use your favorite seasoning. Cover the slow cooker and turn the heat to high. Cook 1 hour and reduce the heat to low. Cook the meat until it is tender, about 5-6 hours. Remove the meat and juices from the slow cooker and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled. Pull the fat off and discard it or use it for cooking. Reserve the broth for making gravy or as a base for soup. Slice the chilled meat across the grain and use it in your favorite roast beef sandwich. It's just that easy! Below are some quick and simple ideas for making a variety of slow cooker roast beef sandwiches.

Breads: Use sturdy breads that can stand up to a gorgeous slice of roast beef. Sourdough, pumpernickel, rye, and multigrain breads are good choices. Use sliced bread or buns. A grilled crusty Italian bun is wonderful when you pair it with roast beef.

Sauces: I enjoy a variety of mustards and flavored mayo with my roast beef. Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, whole grain mustard, and spicy mustard are all terrific choices. You can add them to mayo for a juicier sauce. Stir some horseradish or muffaletta olive salad into mayo to make fantastic sauces. Catsup and tomato-based barbecue sauces also work well. I like natural catsup that is made without high fructose corn syrup. Check out some of your locally made barbecue sauces.

Condiments: Pile veggies onto that roast beef! Thinly sliced vegetables are great on a tasty roast beef sandwich. Lettuces, spinach, basil leaves, arugula, sprouts, onions, tomatoes, olives, pickles, and peppers, both mild and hot, are exciting additions to a roast beef sandwich.

Easy-Does-It Sandwiches:
