Unleashed Review
Dr. Kate Turner has created a new life for herself in Oak Falls, New York as a relief vet at a small house-call practice after dumping a cheating boyfriend. Seven months later Kate and her veterinary tech, Mari, drove to her first appointment of the day. Thinking they were taking care of a pug, it turned out she was taking care of a pot-bellied pig by the name of Angel.

In the meantime, a killer was on the loose. He or she took time to make sure a scene was set a certain way, spending a great deal of time so that the detail for the murder was perfect. Unfortunately, there was one thing that wasn’t quite right, and it could ruin the killer’s whole plan.

Claire Birnham was a new client Kate was getting to know as a friend. Unfortunately, she was found dead of an apparent suicide. Kate couldn’t understand why she would kill herself as she was full of life and hadn’t shown any sign of depression. Kate had just talked to her the afternoon before and Claire was in a good mood.

Willing to find herself on the bad side of her new relationship with police officer Luke Gianetti, Kate continues to ask questions and look further into Claire’s life. But the more she searched for answers the more Kate realized she didn’t know her friend after all.

Unleashed, A Kate Turner, DVM Mystery by Eileen Brady, follows the well-received Muzzled. The author was a veterinarian for over twenty-five years and enjoys spending time with her family and her four-footed friends.

The author tells her story at a smooth pace dropping hints along the way. While readers might think they know what direction the story is going, there are enough twists and turns to keep everyone wondering who the killer is, and what is going to happen next.

Of interest to cozy lovers is not just the mystery to be solved, but often the relationships that build among the characters. This story seems realistic because the characters drive the plot. Conversations are of appropriate length and fit into the day to day life of Kate and her friends.

Fans will more than likely look forward to the next novel to find out what Kate and her co-workers and friends are doing, especially the very interesting police officer Luke Gianetti.
